The larger of the town’s two Wetherspoons is located just off the smaller market place, so can get very busy on market days and weekends. Formally a railway hotel it is now a Wetherlodge, offering accommodation. It offers a wide range of beers often from local breweries.

Located in the Shambles area off the main market place and reputed to be the town’s oldest pub. Made up of two bars, each accessible by a separate entrance, but served by one central bar. The top bar has an impressive high ceiling and timber roof. A range of up to six cask ales is usually available. Busy at lunchtimes for food.
