Bowled over - Special Campaigning Pub of 2007
The Bowling Green - Winster.

History was made on the 19th of July when Matlock and District CAMRA Chairman Colin Fearnley presented the first ever award on behalf of the Sub-Branch. Four pubs were selected by the members of the MAD Branch, all being in their area and worthy of the Special Campaigning Award.

The Temple Hotel at Matlock Bath, Flying Childers at Stanton-in-Peak and the Plough Inn at Two Dales were all worthy contenders, but it was the Old Bowling Green at Winster that pipped them to the post with the highest number of votes.

A special bus trip had been organised to make sure all of the pubs were sampled before voting, and an excellent night out it was too!

Owners David and Marilyn Bentley are true CAMRA supporters, providing excellent real ale in a friendly community atmosphere. Marilyn is pictured about to receive the award from the Sub Branch Chairman during a special visit by both Matlock and Chesterfield CAMRA.
