The Bulls Head - Holymoorside
Summer Pub of the Season - 2006

Holymoorside can count itself lucky – it’s home to the Lamb, a frequent CAMRA award-winner, and now the village’s other pub, the Bulls Head has been voted as Chesterfield & District CAMRA’s Pub of the Season for Summer 2006, from a carefully selected shortlist.

Alan Haynes (pictured receiving his award from Mick Portman) has been landlord for almost a year and has already established a reputation for the quality of his beer, which includes regulars Adnams Bitter and Fuller’s London Pride.  Alan was weaned on Adnams beer, having grown up in one of its pubs in Bungay, Suffolk.  A former rugby player for Southwold - home of Adnams Brewery - he is deservedly proud of the quality of his beer and soon intends to bring into use the third handpump on his bar.

The Bulls Head has an interesting menu - including ‘real’ chips - but remains a pub for all tastes. It’s got several small rooms for conversation or pub games and an idyllic setting next to the river, where children can play to their hearts’ content while their parents enjoy the Bull’s many amenities.
