Chesterfield CAMRA Special Award 2004
The Blue Bell - Bolsover
Regular readers of
Innspire will be accustomed to photographs similar to this one recording the
presentation of awards such as Chesterfield CAMRA's four Pubs of the Season
and of course the Pub of the Year.
Last year branch members felt that another award should accompany these
tributes to our overworked friends in the licensed trade and so we came up
with what is known amongst members as the “Wildcard” award, the idea being
that local members could nominate a particular pub that they had felt had
contributed a great deal towards CAMRA campaigning aims.
Top quality real ale is of course one of the most important factors when
deciding on which pubs should go forward for the vote, but branch members
can put forward pubs for other reasons such as best community pub, good
value real ale and best newcomer to the trade. In fact any campaigning
criteria would be considered.
When it came to the vote at the July Branch meeting, the pub that came top
for many of these reasons was the Blue Bell at Bolsover. This was considered
a worthy winner with both Kev & Pam Maidens and their daughter Angela at the
helm.
